sadly MY MAUMEE RIVER MERMAID MURAL did not survive.. it was originally located in the parking lot ENTRANCE OF GEORGETOWN LIBRARY, 6600 E STATE BLVD, FORT WAYNE, IN 46815

I wanted to pay tribute to our native ancestors who came before us and represent a

Maumee ~ Native American~ River Mermaid.

I love everything nautical, and Mermaids add a fun whimsical design concept. Our city is known for our three rivers, The St. Joseph, St. Mary’s and the Maumee river, playing with that idea I decided to create a whimsical design and add historical light on our earliest settlers in Fort Wayne IN. She has a nurturing presence holding the river drain with a tenderness and loving embrace, speaking to the viewers to help bring awareness that “All Drains Lead To Our Rivers”

Painting on new surfaces isn’t always rainbows and butterflies some things just aren’t meant to be and that’s ok!

It helps us adapt learn and grow <3

THIS YEAR HAS HAD ITS FAIR SHARE OF CRAZINESS AND CLOSINGS/ RESCHEDULING MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS, WHO LIKE MYSELF HAVE BEEN HIT BY OUR ECONOMIC SHUT DOWN. HOWEVER THERE IS ALWAYS light and hope to cleanse the Blues AND I AM EXCITED TO PAINT ANOTHER SEASCAPE MURAL FOR A Talented Fine Art Photographer AND FRIEND TARA DENNY.

THIS MURAL TRANSPORTS YOU INTO A TRANQUIL ABYSS FULL OF COLORFUL PLAYFUL CREATURES AND PREDATORS LURKING IN THE DEPTHS. YOUR EYES WANDER LEFT TO RIGHT GAGING THE SCHOOLS OF FISH AND MOVEMENT OF THE CORAL AND TIDES. NATURAL LIGHT SHINING THROUGH HELPS ENHANCE THE SCENE TO FEEL A DAY TO NIGHT ATMOSPHERE IN THE OCEAN,

PLAYFUL CITY OF ATLANTIS INSPIRED SEASCAPE

IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE TO CREATE A PLAYFUL NAUTICAL WORK FOR THE PUBLIC, PATIENTS, AND STAFF TO ENJOY. ART IS VERY THERAPEUTIC, IT OFFERS HEALING PROPERTIES THAT HELP COMFORT AND REASSURE US THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE OK. PATIENTS CAN ESCAPE AND DIVE INTO THE MAGICAL WORLD DEEP BELOW THE SURFACE BEFORE THEY ARE GREETED WARMLY BY THEIR PHYSICIAN/ PRACTITIONER. COLORFUL CORALLITE FORM AROUND ANCIENT COLUMNS AND HOUSE VARIOUS SEA CREATURES INCLUDING CLOWN FISH, SEAHORSES, EELS, STARFISH AND MANY MORE. JUST ABOVE YOU CAN SEE A FAMILY OF PLAYFUL DOLPHINS AND DANCING JELLIES FLOATING BY.

Murals are great interactive art, this particular one is meant to engage you to discover and learn about our oceans and its wildlife. I couldn’t resist adding a little Dr. Seus reference too, “one fish two fish red fish blue fish”. Patients can escape and dive into the magical world deep below the surface, before they are greeted warmly by their nurse/PRACTITIONER.

on the ocean floor, Colorful corallite form around ancient columns and house various sea creatures including clown fish, seahorses, eels, starfish, a School of Blue Tang swimming and many more. Just above you can see a family of playful dolphins and dancing jellies floating by. one of my childhood memories growing up was reading look and find books. i was fascinated with how they help you discover and unveil hidden treasures. In my art i love to incorporate hidden artifacts or signs of ancient civilizations. Stop by their Lima location to see this mural for yourself
